Common Questions

How often should brakes be replaced?

There’s no single number. It depends on how and where you drive. Stop-and-go city driving, towing, and hilly routes all wear pads faster. Rather than guess, we measure the material left at every service and tell you roughly how much life you have.

Why do my brakes squeal?

Most often it’s the wear indicator doing its job, a small metal tab designed to squeal when the pads get low. It can also be dust, glazing, or hardware that needs cleaning and lubricating. Either way it’s worth a look before it turns into grinding.

My steering wheel shakes when I brake. What is that?

If the shake only happens when you apply the brakes, that usually points to the braking system, commonly warped or unevenly worn rotors. It’s a safety concern, so bring it in and we’ll figure it out.

Do I have to replace rotors with pads?

Not always. If your rotors are within spec and in good shape, pads alone can be enough. We measure them and tell you honestly. Replacing parts that don’t need replacing isn’t how we work.
